- Submarine USS Narwhal closed to 1,200 yards off the beach at Alubijid in Majacalar Bay, Mindanao, Philippines and took aboard nine more evacuees. Narwhal withdrew from the bay bound for the Surigao Strait and came upon the unescorted Japanese transport Himeno Maru, which Narwhal sunk with gunfire. ww2dbase [Narwhal | Alubijid, Mindanao | DS]
