ww2dbaseAlthough the Re.2000 Falco I fighters were delivered to Hungarian and Swedish air forces, the Italian air force Regia Aeronautica rejected them, citing an unreliable engine. As a result, the Re.2001 Falco II fighters were developed. The first of the series took flight in 1941. Later models took on more diverse roles such as night fighters and fighter-bombers. During the war, Re.2001 fighters were mainly used in the attack on Malta and the defense of northern and central Italy.
