In March 1940 Blenheim bombers of No.82 Squadron, RAF Bomber Command attacked the German submarine U-31 which was on sea trials in Jade Bay near Wilhelmshaven. Two of the four anti-submarine bombs hit U-31, killing all 58 (48 crew, 10 dock workers) on board. U-31 would later be refloated only to be sunk again on 2 November 1940 by depth charges from the British destroyer HMS Antelope, which picked up 44 survivors, making it the only WW2 ship to suffer the misfortune of being sunk twice in the
