B-17G Fortress “Mizpah” took a direct AAA hit in the nose on mission to Budapest, 14 Jul 1944. 2 were killed instantly but the pilot held her level long enough for crew to get out & become POWCruiser USS Nashville arriving in Sydney harbor, Australia, 18 Jul 1944. Note the OS2U Kingfisher float planes on her catapults and her new Measure 33, Design 21D paint scheme.
