Wreck of U-576 Identified

21 Oct 2014

The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced on 21 Oct 2014 that the wreck found 30 miles off of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, United States had been identified as German submarine U-576, which was sunk by counterattacks after she sank two ships of convoy KS-520. U-576's wreck was found about 240 yards (about 220 meters) away from the wreck of Bluefields, one of U-576's victims. The wrecks were initially found in Aug 2014.
