Wreck of USS Houston Identified
In Feb 1942, USS Houston was sunk during the Battle of Sunda Strait, killing about 700. A wreck previously discovered in the region had been officially announced as that of the sunken cruiser. Some hull rivets and a metal plate was found to have been removed, and both US and Indonesian officials were said to be working on protecting the wreck as a grave site.
