According to the German Federal Archive (Bundesarchiv), as of 21 Jul 2010, photographs can be reproduced with if these preconditions are met:
- quote the "Federal Archives" as source,
- add the signature of the pictures and
- of name of the originator, i.e. the photographer.

A lady I know said that she was a school girl in Munich in September, 1938. All the people there were required to attend the arrival of Hitler. His train was late, but the people were required to continue holding their hand up to salute Hitler. She remembers her arm being very sore from that.
