Photo shows swamp area where Koga's zero crash-landed. Lt. William Thies (standing behind propeller blade), He was the pilot
flying the PBY parol plane that discovered
the zero.
Koga's body was removed from the zero and
temporarity buried in a shallow grave. Second salvage party arrived on July 12th. Koga's body was reburied about 100 yards from the crash site.
The salvage party said Prayer and a cross was erected into the ground,at the head of the grave.
