great website.i loved seeing all this great info on history's two greatest battle wagons.i come from a naval family with a long history of service to king and country.when i see a great site like this i know that naval history is in good hands.

On 7 April 1945 Yamato was attacked by 386 U.S. Carrier Aircraft on her way to Okinawa, she took 13 torpedo hits and 8 bomb hits, her hull was damaged by numerious near misses. At 14:23 hrs Yamato capsized and an explosion in her forward ammunition store split her in two. 269 crew-members were saved out of her total crew of 3,332.
