This picture and the accompanying photo pa-145884 are not as labelled but are of my father Herbert James Bruce L10418 who was with the RCE 34 Field Company .He was in the same area at the same time as this photo.I believe the unit shown is a engineer anti aircraft formation.Also my father was in the artillery for awhile and was trained on anti aircraft gunnery They are not carrying any extra ammo for th Bren gun .Also the Perths where an infantry regiment and their Bren Gun formations where 2 Bren guns with 8 men in the unit.If you look at their uniform actions they well used. The Perths had not been in the area very long and were issued new uniforms when they arrived from Italy.These guys looked like their gear was old and well used.Also most Perths had their regiment patches on the lrightbshoulder these guys had them on the left apparently.At this time it was quite busy in this area as troops where going north while others were headed west.I don’t know how the photographers could stop any columns and get info. These guys were on the move not allowed to stop for nothing.I,m not trying to start a big fight over who is who here but the CdnArmy should try and get the right info out as this pics are being sold on the internet and by Library.I am positive this my father and would appreciate any help with proving otherwise.
