BOMB AWAY! UNSUNG HEROES
SBD-3 dropping its bomb could be a 1,000 pounder. During the Battle of Midway about seven squadrons of SBD's took part, with one squadron US Marines, lost 35 aircraft and 40 crewmen.

Famous WW2 Quote
"With Germany arming at breakneck speed, England lost in a pacifist dream, France corrupt and torn by dissension, America remote and indifferent... do you not tremble for your children?"Winston Churchill, 1935

I really appreciate the WWII images and narratives provided on this site. Just returned from a dive trip to Truk and am trying to put together a slideshow that will convey to others the courage and skills of our Navy and Marine flyers putting their lives on the line for the folks back home in 1940s - the 'Greatest Generation' - probably will go down that way in our history books. I came along in 1939 - too late to be a participant but I have many memories listening to conversations of parents and neighbors who 'were there'.
