Info above photo: looks like a re-touched photo, the model looks like a Fi 156C-1 no codes are visible on fuselage side. also lacking in photo is the standard aft-firing Rheinmetall-Borsig 7.9mm MG 15 machinegun. The Storch was use not only by the Luftwaffe, but also by Germany's allies. After the war, the storch was built in France and Czechoslovakia,and used by air force's years after the war.The storch is still used as a sports aircraft others are in military aircraft collections.

Fieseler Flugzeugbau was started after World War I by German fighter ace Gerhard Fieseler. Fieseler built trainers and fighters under license for the Luftwaffe in 1935. The Company's name was changed to Gerhard Fieseler Werke in 1939 and continued building aircraft through World War II. Fieseler is best known for the Fi 156 Storch and the Fi 103 flying bomb better known as the Buzz Bomb.

Fieseler Flugzeugbau AG

Fieseler was employed by other companies, until he opened his own firm. Fieseler built sports and sailplanes of his own design.

He became a Member of the Nazi Party, and was awarded various contracts and to built aircraft under license for the Luftwaffe.
Famous for his Fi 156 Storch single-engine (STOL) Short Take-off and Landing aircraft.

During the war, his company overhauled, built
repaired and made spare-parts for the Luftwffe.
Fieseler worked on the Fi 103 or V-1 flying
bomb. After the war, Fieseler spent time in
US custody, after his release he started up
his company once again.
Like other aircraft companies in post-war
Germany, Fieseler could not build aircraft and turned to consumer goods and automotive
parts. Fieseler died at age 91

After World War II the Fieseler Storch was
used by Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Poland and other post-war air forces in Europe.
France continued to build the Storch, as the
Criquet.
Romania continued to build the Storch until
1946. A total of 2,900 were built, today about twenty Fieseler Storch Aircraft still
fly throughout the world.

The Fieseler Fi5 was a single-engine low-wing
two-seat monoplane, designed for sports flying.
Built in 1934 it competed with the Klemm Ki25
that was similar in appearence.
Fieseler is best remembered for his most successful design, the Fi 156 Storch (STOL) aircraft built for the Luftwaffe and also supplied and built by other Axis Air Forces.

OTHER FIESELER AIRCRAFT

Fi 97 was a four-seat touring aircraft.

Fi 167 was a biplane torpedo & reconnaissance
aircraft designed for the German Aircraft
Carrier Graf Zeppelin, both Fieseler and
Arado had designes.

Fieseler designed an early (UAV) Unmanned
Aerial Vehicle. It was an unsuccessful attempt to design a radio-controlled, full size aircraft, anti-aircraft target.

Did you know...

Gerhard Fieseler was a WWI fighter pilot and
served with Jasta 25 on the Macedonian Front.
He shotdown 19 enemy aircraft.
