My Dad, Alvin Mickelson, served on the Curtiss. He was a 2nd Class Aviation Machinist Mate and worked in this machine shop. Our family has many keepsakes Dad brought back from his time on board including a piston from one of the Japanese dive bombers and a silver sugar spoon from the Officer's Mess, hit by a dive bomber.
