The Privateer remained in service after W.W.II, being redesignated P4Y-2 in 1952. There were several versions, Photo-reconnaissance, Weather-reconnaissance, and the PB4Y-2G for the Coast Guard.Operators: U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, Nationalist China, France and Hunduras that operated three aircraft in the 1950's. Privateer's were operated by Hawkins & Powers Aviation as fire fighting bombers, over the years the privatter's have been replaced with newer aircraft.
