The US Navy’s official caption for this photograph lists the date as 4 Dec 1944 but this is not possible. The Action Report from Torpedo Squadron VT-16 flying from the Lexington describes this torpedo hit on the starboard stern that was followed by a second explosion on the port stern (seen here). Isuzu lost her ability to steer and the use of one propeller but would be repaired.
