My Combat Engineers Platoon, on detatached duty was ordered (by an Infantry Major) into combat to neutralize a German machined gun out- post. Unknown by me,until then, my own Sergeant produced a letter he had been carring secretly , to be given to me. The letter was on letterhead of Gen Patton, Third Army Command, that forbid the reader from leading Combat Engineers into combat becaue of recent high losses defendingagainst the German attackers in the Buldge. Does any reader havc a copy of that official letter?
