Famous WW2 Quote
"Since peace is now beyond hope, we can but fight to the end."Chiang Kaishek, 31 Jul 1937

Note the torpedo netting around the two carriers. At left, astern of the Long Island, is the overturned hull of the USS Utah damaged in the Pearl Harbor Attack of 7 Dec 1941. Along the opposite shore of Ford Island is Battleship Row with the superstructure of the sunken USS Arizona visible at left and the capsized USS Oklahoma slightly more to the right, both sunk in the same attack. The Ford Island Naval Air Station dominates the center of the island. Just beyond Ford Island is the Pearl Harbor Submarine Base (left) and the Pearl Harbor Naval Operating Base (center). The white patch in the upper right is a section of the Hickam Field runway.
