Dr Gordon Seagrave was a fourth-generation American medical missionary who, with twelve Shan nurses, ran a dressing station at Pyinmana. He came out of Burma with Stilwell during the long retreat and established a hospital for sick and wounded Chinese Expeditionary Force (Y Force) casualties.
