Hi Mr. Chen - The caption on this photo for 18 Mar 1944 identifies Stillwell as a major general. He had been a Lt. Gen. since Feb 1942.Your pages are wonderful....Thanks, Tomhttp://generals.dk/general/Stilwell/Joseph_Warren/USA.htmlhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Stilwell

Tom Lee,Thank you very much for your note. As of Mar 1944, I think Stilwell was holding these two ranks:* Lieutenant General in the Army of the United States (as of Feb 1942)* Major General in the Regular Army (as of Sep 1943)I suppose since in Mar 1944, it is still in war time, so perhaps the usage of his war time rank, rather than his permanent rank, is more fitting. I will update the caption based on that. I will definitely welcome any additional wisdom you may have on this matter.Thank you!

Famous WW2 Quote
"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."
