Note the large deck number painted on the forward flight deck – upside down. This number is aligned correctly for a ‘9’ but wrong way around for the ‘6’ that should appear on the Enterprise. Wasp (Essex-class) also had her ‘18’ bow number applied upside down for several weeks and Yorktown (Essex-class) briefly had her bow ‘10’ painted upside down.
