TBD-1 Devastators of VT-6 aboard Enterprise
readied for launch on June 4, 1942.
Of the 41 aircraft launched, only 6 returned
The Americans ended up sinking four Japanese
carriers.
Ensign George Gay was the only VT-8 survivor
of the 30 men who flew into battle, and all
15 planes were destroyed, without scoring a hit.
Ensign Gay was rescued the next day, June 5th
recovered from his injuries at Pearl Harbor.

readied for launch on June 4, 1942.
