Is it Bf 109 or Me 109? In 1938 Messerschmitt's repulation has grown, to the point where the German Air Misistry suggested changing the Company's name from Bayerische Flugzeugwerke to Messerschmitt A.G. In German usage Bf 109 is correct, but confusion continues even today. During W.W.II the U.S.A.A.F. used Me 109, referring to Messerschmitt's fighter. Over 34,000 aircraft were built, but by war's end about a few hundred were left. The fighter continued to fly for different Air Forces in Europe. Romania used them until 1955, Finland 1954, Spain late 1960's Switzerland 1950's. Some aircraft are in Museums worldwide, others are in private collections. But the question continues is it Bf 109 or Me 109?......................

Messerschmitt Bf 109E 4/7 was developed as a night fighter.
Armed with 2x7.92mm machine guns and 2x20mm
cannons. It also carried the Peil G IV
direction finding equipment to intercept
enemy aircraft.
Some aircraft carried a 300 liter drop-tank
to extend its intercept time. For these night
missions, the planes were painted black.

Famous WW2 Quote
"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."Winston Churchill

Looks like a Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 around 1940-1941 aircraft does not carry the engine mounted 20mm cannon.
