This is her magazine going off, a tremedous explosion. I was said you could see the mushroom cloud 100 miles away.

DEATH OF YAMATO:

Explosion of the Yamato resulted in a mushroom cloud 6km / 3.7 miles high, and could be seen
from the Island of Kyuhu 160km away about 100 miles. Yamato took (7) torpedoes and (6) bomb hits, bombs could have been 1,000 pounders some sources list (2) additional torpedoes and bomb hits not confirmed.

SHIPS LOST, CREW LOSSES & DAMAGED

The Cruiser Yahagi was lost along with the destroyers Asashimo, Hamakaze, Kasumi and Isokaze.
Yamato 2,496, Cruiser Yahagi 446 and 721 from the destroyers.
Destroyers Fuyuzuki, Suzutsuki, Yukikaze and Hatsushimo damaged.

ATTACKING FORCE:

386 attacking aircraft, losses were (12) aircraft (4) SB2C Dive Bombers, (3) TBM Torpedo Bombers and (3) F6F Hellcat Fighters along with (12) crewmen.
