Spitfire Mk.VC being launched during operation Bowery. RAF supplied first group of Spitfires to Malta.
Aircraft were camouflaged in blue/gray for flights over the Mediterranean.

Note the F4F parked just ahead of the island still painted with the 13 red & white rudder stripes. These were eliminated 15 May 1942.
