This is a late model of the Sten Sub Machine Gun. The give away is the magazine well on the side of the receiver. On the Austin the feed is on the top of the receiver not the side as is the case with the Sten.

Sorry, but I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. The Austen gun got its name from “Australian Sten,” it was an Australian version of the British Sten gun and matched its characteristics in most respects, including the side mounted magazine. What is seen in this image is not the magazine well, however, but the ejection port. The top loading magazine was a feature of the Australian Owen gun, which were made in greater numbers and may be what you were thinking of.
