Famous WW2 Quote
"With Germany arming at breakneck speed, England lost in a pacifist dream, France corrupt and torn by dissension, America remote and indifferent... do you not tremble for your children?"Winston Churchill, 1935

My dad was in basic training at Bellows Field on Dec. 7, 1941. He saw this plane come in. It didn't actually do a true belly landing. Its landing gear collapsed upon touching down, either from damage or by pilot action. It had come in downwind, so it was coming in too fast. In any case, the airstrip would barely handle the P-40's stationed there temporarily, as only an observation unit was stationed there permanently at the time. Dad stood guard around the plane some, as guard had to be mainteined 24 hours a day for a while.
