A5M4 Claude 9-122s telescopic sight was made by Nikko, later known as Nikon. The Claude
lacked armor protection for the pilot or even bullet-resistant glass around the windscreen. The drop tank held 30 gallons of fuel.
The A5M4 was painted with a protective coat
called Amerio a clear color almost with a yellowish-tinge, or olive satin-green finish in a black & white photo it looked silver. The engine cowling was a blue/black color.
The tail and horizontal stabilizers were
painted red with the hinomaru(rising sun)in six positions.
Claude was armed w/2x7.7mm machine guns with 500rpg.
