Famous WW2 Quote
"All right, they're on our left, they're on our right, they're in front of us, they're behind us... they can't get away this time."Lt. Gen. Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller, at Guadalcanal

The German FG-42 was developed for the German paratroops. It was a gas-operated,
air-cooled, magazine feed, selective fire semi and full automatic shoulder weapon.
It fired the full size 7.92mm round same as used in the 98k bolt action rifle and had a tremendous kick, w/muzzle flash and noise wasn't controllable on automatic fire.
The weapon should have used the 7.92 kurts round, like the later MP-44. The FG-42 was used in limited numbers until the end of the war.
Both the FG-42 and the MP-44 influenced post
war small-arms development.
The FG-42 was carried by German paratroops
during Otto Skorzeny's kommando raid to free Benito Mussolini in September 1943.
