U-505 was captured on the high seas during combat operations 4 Jun 1944 while T35 was surrendered at the end of the war in Europe. U-505 operated under the name USS Nemo during wartime analysis but was never formally commissioned into the US Navy. T35, on the other hand, was commissioned as a destroyer with the name of USS T-35 (DD-935) and served until 1947.
