Note the Chief Petty Officer standing next to the gangway who appears to be saluting His Majesty the King with the wrong hand! He isn’t. This is the Chief Boatswain who has just finished “piping” the King aboard, which required the use of his right hand to operate the pipe. In such circumstances, saluting with the left hand is proper.
