  • German destroyers Galster, Lody, and Beitzen departed Brest, France after sundown to attack British shipping off Cornwall, southwestern England, United Kingdom, sinking Belgian trawler Marguerite Simonne and Dutch ship Apollonia (killing 15).   • German bombers dropped 156 tons of high explosive bombs and 12,500 incendiary bombs on Bristol, England, United Kingdom.
