- The first recorded aerial bombing occurred when Italian pilot Lieutenant Guilio Gavotti threw four 2kg grenades over the side of his Taube reconnaissance aircraft on a Turkish camp at Ain Zara, Libya at the altitude of 185 meters. He failed to cause any casualties. ww2dbase [CPC]
