- Abdul Hafiz of Indian 9th Jat Infantry Regiment led an attack by two sections of a platoon against a Japanese-held hill near Imphal, India. Despite being injured in the leg by enemy fire, he took out one machine position and led an attack on another; during the latter, he was fatally shot in the chest.
