- The Lytton Commission reported to the League of Nations at Geneva, Switzerland that Japan had violated Chinese sovereignty and the establishment of the puppet state of Manchukuo was illegal. - The aircraft carrier Ranger was launched at Newport News, Virginia with First Lady Lou Hoover as sponsor.
