Russia
  • Following the suicide of Ataman Alexey Kaledin and the departure of Lavr Kornilov's "Volunteer Army", a "Red" Cossack leader, V. S. Golubov, broke into the Parliament building at Novocherkassk, Russia forcibly dissolving the Krug (the parliament of the Don Cossacks) and then shot the new Ataman, Anatoly Nazarov, and several leading politicians. The reaction to the killing of the elected head of the Cossack State was instantaneous - General Popov, leader of the Don forces, deserted, with indecent haste, with 1,500 men (leaving behind an almost equal number to men to face the oncoming Reds). ww2dbase [Novocherkassk, Rostov | AC]
United States
  • Rear Admiral John D. McDonald was named the commanding officer of New York Navy Yard in Brooklyn, New York, United States. ww2dbase [New York Navy Yard | Brooklyn, New York | CPC]
