5 Nov 1943ww2dbaseThe following is Philippine José Laurel's speech at the opening session of the Greater East Asia Conference in Tokyo, Japan on 5 Nov 1943.
That was the call for action of Burma, Manchukuo, of Thailand, of China, and even of the peoples of Java, Borneo, and Sumatra, whose interest cannot be different from the interest of all the people of Greater East Asia. May I express to you all, your excellency and gentlemen, that united with Japan, united into a compact and solid organization, there can no longer be any power that can stop or deter the march of one billion orientals, for that they may, freely and untroubled shape, their own destiny, without intervention, no longer with any oppression or interference of reigning power coming from the west. ww2dbase
