British Palestine
- Erling Nielsen, master of Norwegian merchant steamer Hero which was sunk by German submarine U-375 on the previous day, was given a military burial at the Ramleh Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery outside Jaffa, Palestine. Hero had been in British Admiralty service at the time of its sinking. The burial was attended by Hero's 1st Mate Fredriksen, Hero's 1st Engineer Olsen, Hero's 3rd Engineer Abrahamsen, as well as the Norwegian Consul in Haifa. ww2dbase [Ramla | HM]
