ww2dbaseThe 3.45-inch RCL Mk 1 recoilless rifles were designed by Dennis Burney and manufactured by Burney's Broadway Trust Company. Their muzzle velocity was low for a weapon intended on being anti-vehicle weapons, but the high-explosive squash head (HESH) shells achieved good results against tank armor. Excessive wear of the barrels during testing caused production delays, thus these weapons were not delivered to front line units fighting in Burma as originally planned.Source: Wikipedia ww2dbase
