Famous WW2 Quote
"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last."Winston Churchill

More Shidens were lost to poor landing gear failures than to combat.
The engine was also unreliable and limited at high altitude.
Despite these drawbacks, the Shiden was a feared fighter with it's 4 high velocity 20mm cannons and 2,000 hp engine. Shiden 11 WoF: 4.458k/s for 8.5 sec;
Shiden 21: 4.276k/s but for 24 seconds+.
It could beat you with horizontal or vertical tactics. It had unique automatic combat flaps to put off the stall in a turn. It did have a problem with auto rotation and spin out of control in the stall. It had armor as well as punch. The US pilots were taken by a captured Shiden when they tested it. It was effectively the true successor to the early Zero.
It was more of a contender against the Allied fighters than the prolific Zero 52.
