The AU-1 started life as F4U-6 that was never built, and re-designated AU-1 for ground attack.
Produced for the US Marines and operated in Korea.
Powered by 1 x Pratt & Whitney R-2800-83W Double Wasp Engine of 2,300hp. It was armed with 4 x 20mm cannons w/231rpg, 10 x rockets,
4,000lbs of bombs, drop tanks and napalm
