ww2dbaseCamp Aliceville was a prisoner of war camp in Aliceville, Alabama, United States. The camp was built between Aug 1942 and Dec 1942, and received its first prisoners, largely those captured in North Africa, in Jun 1943. The camp consisted of 400 barracks buildings with the capacity of about 6,000 prisoners. While the camp began as a holding place for all German prisoners, by 1944 it had interned only those devoted to the Nazi ideology (as assaults and homicides, committed by Nazis against non-Nazis, and vice versa, became a problem in POW camps). Camp Aliceville ceased operations in Sep 1945.
