Contributor:

ww2dbaseThe Type 97 light machine guns were vehicular weapons most frequently seen atop Japanese tanks. The inner-workings of them were actually copies of the Czech ZB vz/26 light machine guns of the 1920s, but they featured different stocks and grips. The barrels were known to overheat during sustained fire, thus Type 97 gunners tend to fire in short bursts. They were often seen with a 1.5 power telescopic sight with 30-degree field of view.
