World War II Airmen

World War II Airmen was a collection of "The Fighting AAF" radio programs heard in the United States during WW2. It was a part of the "America's Past in Audio" series released by Sound Room Publishers, Inc. These propaganda pieces featured interviews with airmen, interviews with families of airmen, and supposed recordings made during combat missions. Although most of the conversation seemed overly scripted and some of the live recordings had a feeling of dramatization, this audio production that I found at my library was nevertheless interesting for that it offered a chance to listen to something that a WW2-era American household might be listening to in the evenings. The programs included were thrown together without additional production, thus there were some room for improvement; poor sound quality and lack of volume consistency were the two that stood out to me. This collection would be of great value for those interested in the study of war time propaganda.
