My dad Bill Mason was in the 2nd battalion and reached the bridge with Colonel Frost, dad was Aged 21 and survived the battle he was captured on the 20thsep and was a prisoner for 7 months Mum was pregnant with me and I was born on the 25 th March 1945 I was six weeks old when dad first saw me , he went on to have another three children , he had a wonderful live ,he was a very hard working man the job he did for 35 years of his working life was a coal miner down the pits in Leicestershire he then emigrated to Perth Western Australia in 1990 at the age of 68 - he passed away at the age of 94 in August last year ::: My Hero.
