Did you know...
The Arado Ar. 196 and Heinkel He 114-B also served aboard WWII German commerce raiders
that were made to look allied and neutral
merchant ships.
The most famous raiders were the Atlantis
and the Pinguin. Other raiders also served
they were:
Orion, Widder, Thor, Komet, Kormoran, Michel
Stier and Togo.
Italy also operated (4)four commerce raiders during WWII, and used them the same way as
the German ships, masquerading as allied or
neutral merchant ships.

The Vichy French used the Arado Ar 196 aboard
the Auxiliary cruiser Vidder.
The German commerce raider Thor also used the Ar 196 ,but was painted in Japanese markings, and operated around Malaysia 1941.

The Arado Ar 196 served on all major German
ships. 1./Bordflieger Staffel 196 operated
from the Heavy Cruisers Prinz Eugen and Scharnhost.
Arado Ar. 196 units operated aboard ship or land based.
