These were the commanding officers of the 21st Army Group. Montgomery was in overall command, Hodges was second in command of the US 1st Army, Crerar commanded the Canadian 1st Army, Bradley commanded the US 1st Army, and Dempsey commanded the British 2nd Army. Two weeks later, Bradley assumed command of the US 12th Army Group and Hodges advanced to command the US 1st Army.
