Taken during the summer of 1943 the wars effect on the completion of (or more accurately lack of completion) construction dock I is most evident. If you look closely parts of the outer walls of construction dock II can be seen just above dock I. It progressed no further than this. The construction docks would have been used for repair of the largest ships, including civilian ships, when not in use by the Kriegsmarine for building.

Famous WW2 Quote
"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."Winston Churchill

A USAAF photograph of Deschimag, 1943 or 1944. Slips I -V are located to the left of center and slips VII-XI are located just to the left of center at the end of the long channel. The shipyard had slips in two areas; slips I through V were designed to launch into the shipyard (construction) basin (where the equipping pier was located) and slips VII through XI (there wasn’t a slip VI) launched into the industrial/commercial port.
