Famous WW2 Quote
"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. You win the war by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country!"George Patton, 31 May 1944

This is Doolittle Crew #15 (15th to fly off Hornet). L to R they are: Lt Howard A Sessler (Bombardier/Navigator), Lt Donald G Smith (Pilot), Lt Thomas R White, MD (Flight Surgeon), Lt Griffith P Williams (Co-Pilot), Sgt Edward J Saylor (Engineer). Dr White had finagled his way onto the crew as a gunner. All survived the mission after ditching near the Chinese coast. “Doc” White tended to Ted Lawson’s badly injured leg before being forced to amputate it. Capt Smith was later killed in action in Western Europe in 1942 while the other four survived the war.
