FOR THE FATHERLAND: GLIDER TRAINING
German pre-war glider training was carried out by the NSFK National Socialist Flying Corps. in the 1930s. These flying clubs were closely associated with the Hitler Youth.
BUTTERFLIES ARE FREE:
Our young flier is getting his last minute instructions from his flight instructor who has been issued his "C" Certificate Civil Glider Proficiency Award that's on his left lower breast pocket. Many of these young glider pilots went on to train as Luftwaffe fighter, bomber, transport and glider pilots.
Our young flier is wearing the 1st pattern metal flying helmet, as he sits in his SG-38 Glider.
Did you know that over 16,000 gliders were built in Germany during WWII.
