ww2dbaseGamatron was a long range navigation station operated by the US Coast Guard station at Frederiksdal (now Narsaq Kujalleq) in southern Greenland. Construction began in Nov 1941; during the construction, radio beacon at the site was provided by the US Coast Guard cutter Algonquin, while the cutter North Star brought men and equipment. It began partial operations in Jan 1942, and became fully operational two months later. Protection of this station was provided by the US Army. It had housing facilities for one officer and 20 enlisted men. The station was abandoned after WW2.
